Behind Futureworx

Behind Futureworx

We accelerate ingenuity by harnessing emerging global trends, technology and partnership opportunities.

We identify and develop a new generation of products and services that deliver innovative solutions for relevant and timely global and societal problems.

By comparing the future and present states based on those global trends, we're able to build on great ideas and turn them into new ventures by launching them as start-ups inside Futureworx.

We are based at St John's Innovation Park in the heart of Cambridge, UK and alongside driving our own start-up projects, our team work closely in the Cambridge Ecosystem, engaging the academia and other local start-up companies to identify opportunities for growth in new and existing markets.

The breadth of experience, expertise and creativity within the Futureworx team, coupled with the power of the Marshall brand, has enabled us to forge a wide range of important strategic relationships with likeminded organisations offering complementary capabilities across a number of different industries.

  • We focus on solving problems of practical significance
  • We partner, collaborate and direct resources towards producing prototypes quickly and launching ventures fast
  • We prize unconstrained thinking and indulge curiosity
  • We create urgency once our future states and stepping stones are clear
What sort of problems are we interested in?

What sort of problems are we interested in?

Our goal is to create new enterprises where there is a need for new technologies in a 5 to 10 year timeframe and a business model that enables that technology to come to market. Our focus areas are based on certain mega-trends, which include answers to challenges with net zero carbon in mobility, integrating AI in ground and air vehicles, and applying technology to support autonomous asset management, maintenance and repair.

How do we solve those problems?

We focus efforts in the areas with the maximum potential, identifying gaps in the market which are not immediately obvious, which means we place ourselves in the right place at the right time to make the most of these opportunities.
